After looking at all I've recently looked at in regards to dresses, mental illness architecture etc. I designed some face charts that could possibly be designs more Miss Havisham.
IDEA 1
This reflects to my previous idea mentioned in my Givenchy post - the idea of making the grotesque look acceptable. I want a sharp contour all on the face to mimic this idea of her face being sunken in, but I want it in a more high fashion kind of way. However, around the eyes I have decided to not add any darkness onto the bags or into the corner as I feel this can seriously age the face, albeit this is what I am sort of trying to suggest I don't want it too obvious. A red coloured pigment or shadow with a slight shimmer in will be added on the outside of all these contoured areas, especially around the eye to give the illusion of sore skin. In regards to the eyebrows and lips - the eyebrows (although not clearly shown) will be messy and the same colour as the pigment I used for the contour. The lips on the other hand will be obviously cracked using film and tv make up, this will also be enhanced with the use of dark colours, however, to give this a more contemporary feel and for it to still abide by my idea I want to add red glitter, or the shimmer if in the end it comes out too much.
IDEA 2
This idea still needs developing but I cant do so until I've bought the lace to experiment with. Again, these are just basic looks that I'm hoping to develop. This design incorporates many elements that I have recently researched. The pattern on top of the head is supposed to represent Victorian lace that was used in Miss Havisham's wedding dress, also the shape used reflects back into Gothic Architecture. I am planning to buy lace in my desired pattern and place it on the head, then stipple supra colour over it to reveal the pattern on the skin. Ideally I would like the colour choice to be quite gruesome and unattractive - this then reflects back to my overall goal in trying to make the grotesque beautiful. Sunken in heavily contoured face still applies. Eyebrows will be messy and most probably white/old looking. I haven't quite decided what I'd like to go for around the eyes yet, I'm suspecting that I wont need much due to the fact the lace element will be quite prominent. I decided for a really ruby red lip but 'messily' applied, as my perception of Miss Havisham is very frail and cant keep her hand steady but she still wants her wedding day look so applies her lipstick but in a messy manor. I understand back in the Victorian era they rich never wore make up but I feel, as mine is a modern more artistic perception that I could get away with it. I also chose red because it's a very rich colour and as previously stated the interior of them are very rich and royal.
These are just some inital ideas based on the research I have done, I'm going to practice some of the ideas out and see whether they work or not.
